A man who contaminated treats with sleeping medication and provided them to youngsters at a summer camp in Leicestershire has admitted sexual offenses against two children both between nine and ten.
Jon Ruben was detained after eight minors and an older person became sick at the facility in July.
The senior citizen, from that region, confessed to a series of 17 offences when he appeared at the judicial center on the end of the week.
Yet, he disputed a single sexual charge he was facing, which was involving a young boy.
The defendant was kept in jail before a subsequent court date on November 28th.
'Candy game'
The prosecutor, prosecuting, outlined the criminal behavior to the court.
She stated his targets were children from difficult backgrounds who were staying at a youth camp which he ran.
The defendant conducted a "treat game" with the children, Mrs Prior explained, in which he would access the sleeping quarters when they were preparing to sleep and request they to eat sweets "as quickly as they can".
She informed the proceedings the defendant had played this game with the young males "repeatedly", and youngsters had previously become sick the next day.
She stated the man had been able to explain this for many years as the children being "overexcited from fun", until his family member had suspicions in July 2025.
The legal representative added: "This year his family member had worries about the situation, for good reason.
"They decided to investigate in the defendant's belongings."
Mrs Prior KC stated objects including baby oil, petroleum jelly and medical needles were located, and his stepson alerted the law enforcement about his concerns.
She said Ruben proceeded to engage in the "sweet game" with six youngsters that time - July 26th - and they were all ill the following morning.
"The police had not gone out by that time," she stated further.
The oversight body, the police conduct office, previously told that it was investigating the police response of the situation.
Mrs Prior said the youngsters were unable to walk properly due to being ill, so the stepson called the police once more.
She stated Ruben then engaged in the "sweet game" in a area of five minors.
