Since the launch of the fourth campaign, fresh DM Brennan Mulligan has maintained audience suspense with extensive world-building, a colorful mix of personalities, and a exciting storyline showcasing celestial beings, evil spirits, and sinister influences increasing in strength within the city.
Heads-up: Spoilers for the third episode of Campaign 4 are included.
The Warrior Group Unveiled
Episode 3 concluded with a huge suspense moment and presented the premier party of heroes who will separate from the central cast to undertake their own adventure, distinct from the remaining groups.
The combat-focused team consists of Teor Pridesire (portrayed by the voice actor), the agile character (the talented performer), Tyranny (the cast member), Wicander (the player), and Kattigan Vale (Robbie).
Why Split the Party?
With 13 cast members, it was clear from the beginning that keeping everyone at the same party would be unworkable.
This explains, the first four episodes of Campaign 4 serve as an Overture, intertwining the characters’ stories before splitting into three distinct groups: Soldiers, Strategists, and Explorers.
What Defines the Combat Party
Per the DM, the warrior group is for adventurers who enjoy a traditionally charged battle-oriented story mode where non-violent answers are scarce.
At first glance, characters like the squeamish cleric Wicander might look unsuited, but the events of the third episode make it clear why these particular heroes are best suited for the warrior group.
Why They Must Go
For one thing, the group knows exactly where to head next after a violent first encounter with The Crow Keepers.
Casimir of Thjazi Fang—whose death initiated the story’s plot—exploited the enemy for his personal gain, entering the secret base, attacking the rogue, and stealing all the enchanted items to auction.
The traitor then cleared his liabilities and ran away to a fortified location in Gormalay, Timmony, north of the urban center, with Teor’s brother close behind.
Individual Reasons
Moreover, each member has a specific drive to exit the metropolitan area:
- The rogue, as the companion and trusted friend, seeks retribution.
- The knowledgeable figure knows the region and advises that it is a dangerous place.
- The strong character and The healer, having disobeyed his relatives’ demands to execute the fighter and instead saved him, have nowhere else to go.
- Yet, their reputation as prominent individuals in the influential clan could help the team access locations they usually can’t.
- Additionally, The fighter vowed a eternal obligation to The cleric for his deliverance and will now follow him wherever.
Pursued by Authorities
In addition, all of them are wanted by the authorities that control Dol-Makjar for a variety of reasons, making staying in the city too risky:
- Thimble and The character are notorious outlaws.
- Tyranny and Wicander defied House Halovar and the horde of evil beings they are partnered with.
- The fighter is marked for death by House Halovar.
This means them no alternative but to journey toward Timmony in pursuit of the traitor.
Future Episodes
According to the latest episode’s Cooldown, we learn that the Soldiers table will be absent the following episode, leaving the remaining eight cast members to assemble the Seekers and Planners tables.
Fans can look forward to learning which adventurers will be where in the story’s final introductory chapter, available to watch on next week.
